In a recent podcast episode, host Jessica Spawn enjoyed a conversation with two distinguished guests, Jenilee Harwell and Felix Mira, both of whom are integral members of the Keller Parks Board.

Jenilee, a wife, mother, dog mom, and an avid runner, is deeply passionate about the maintenance of trails, to enjoy running within this fabulous community.  Felix, the chair of the Park Board, views their role as the voice of the people, overseeing not only the trails and parks but also the senior center and Keller Point.

The Keller Park Board is composed of seven volunteers and two alternates who meet every second Thursday of the month. Their role is pivotal in maintaining the charm of Keller, a city known for its parks and trails. They ensure the upkeep, care, and development of these green spaces, making Keller an attractive destination for residents and visitors alike.

There are diverse parks in Keller. Felix pointed out the numerous parks, including playgrounds, city parks, and a dog park, some of which are maintained by Homeowners Associations (HOAs). He emphasized the sports park as a significant project currently under the Park Board's supervision. The plan includes fields for pickleball, softball, baseball, football, and lacrosse. This renovation and upgrade are expected to take about two years, transforming it into an exciting hub for sports enthusiasts of all ages.

Jenilee highlighted the extensive network of trails in Keller, which currently span over 26 miles. The board is tirelessly working on connecting and expanding these trails. She mentioned a trail masterplan that allows developers to contribute to the trail system when building commercial or residential properties.

Keller Pointe was briefly discussed, being described as a first-class facility and the hub of Keller. It offers a variety of amenities, including an indoor track, gymnasium, fitness equipment, group classes, indoor & outdoor waterparks, swim lessons and more! Both guests expressed their immense pride in Keller Point and the diverse programming it offers to the community.

Overall, this enlightening conversation with Jenilee Harwell and Felix Mira offered a comprehensive overview of the Keller Parks Board's responsibilities and the importance of parks and trails in Keller.
