Assisted Stretching

What is Assisted Stretching ?

Assisted stretching is designed to professionally identify areas of restricted movement and use therapeutic support to enhance the stretch of muscle groups inhibiting movement.

Who is a candidate for Assisted Stretching ?

Anyone experiencing lack of range of motion or restricted movement. Examples include:

  • Individuals pursuing health through exercise programming
  • Athletes interested in improving performance
  • Athletes interested in recovery from intense training or competition
  • Individuals experiencing soreness or lack of range of motion in exercise
  • Individuals noticing a lack of mobility

Who is not a candidate for Assisted Stretching ?

  • Individuals who are currently injured and receiving medical care

What does an Assisted Stretching session entail ?

  • Assisted Stretching sessions include a series of stretches where the individual assumes various positions and is led by therapeutic support to move the individual’s extremities to a further range of motion than can be achieved by the individual on their own.
  • Assisted Stretching intensity is always controlled by the individual and therapeutic support never asks the individual to relinquish control
  • Assisted Stretching requires the therapeutic support to touch the individual and move the extremities

What is included in the Assisted Stretching program ?

  • The Assisted Stretching program includes identification of areas of restriction, the Assisted Stretching session and “homework” stretches recommended to the individual for a self- directed stretching plan
